The MAXO Awards were created to celebrate individuals within Pharmaxo who embody and demonstrate our core values:
- Where patients come first
- Can it be better?
- Is there more to learn?
- Our commitment to you
In this blog series, we’re excited to highlight our Spring MAXO award winners who have gone above and beyond in their roles, earning recognition from their colleagues for their outstanding contributions here at Pharmaxo.
In this Meet the Staff edition, we meet Sam Lovatt who was given the ‘Is there more to learn?’ award.
Tell us about your job and how you came to join Pharmaxo
As a patient services administrator my role is to contact the patients directly and arrange their homecare deliveries with them which involves calling, texting and emailing them.
Other aspects of my role include communicating with hospitals and consultants to ensure everything is running smoothly and we are providing the best quality service for the customers.
After A levels I was looking for a career path. My sister worked for Pharmaxo as an Assistant Patient Services Manager, and she recommended that I give it a try, so I did! And I could see that it was a way to make a change and to benefit society in a way that I had never really explored before.
Sam’s nomination for ‘Is there more to learn’
“Sam is currently supporting the self-serve pilot. He offered support by working additional hours to call over 200 patients to get this project off the ground.”
The company was testing out a self-service option that would allow patients to book homecare deliveries in for themselves. I offered to do full week of 12-hour shifts to call patients to explain how the service would work, ask if they wanted to be involved in the pilot, and then set it up for them. I was also involved in editing and developing the scripts for the calls, as well as creating the standard operating procedures for my colleagues.
I’m still supporting the pilot project and answering any patients’ questions and general queries they may have, as well as feeding back comments to the development team.
How did you feel when you got the nomination?
It felt great to get the recognition for the effort I put in to support the development. I really didn’t expect it and it made me really happy to receive the positive feedback.
What are your interests outside of Pharmaxo?
I’ve become really interested in the history and process of high fashion and tailoring. I’ve visited the tailor shops of Saville Row on multiple occasions and taken part in a ‘tailoring experiences’ with companies that include Celine, Prada and my personal favourite Hugo Boss where I learned a lot about the processes of tailoring and the creation of many designer products – which I found truly fascinating.
What would you say to someone who wants to join Pharmaxo?
Go for it! – the people are lovely and come from lots of different backgrounds and areas of experience. The work is interesting and rewarding, and there are plenty opportunities throughout the company Pharmaxo Healthcare and also at Bath ASU to develop many different skills and attributes.
