At Pharmaxo, career progression isn’t defined by a single pathway – it’s shaped by opportunity, support, and a culture that believes in growing talent from within.
For Jayde Cook, Pharmacy Manager, and Daniella Henley, Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT), their journeys at Pharmaxo Healthcare reflect what’s possible when learning, flexibility, and encouragement come together – even during life’s busiest seasons.
From Dispenser to Pharmacy Manager
Jayde joined Pharmaxo just over five years ago, after starting her career in community pharmacy. The move brought new challenges – different medicines, processes, and regulatory requirements – but also the chance to grow.
“Coming to Pharmaxo was a big change… it was a good challenge with lots of opportunities to learn and develop.”
Starting as a dispenser, Jayde progressed quickly, stepping into a supervisory role within months and continuing to build her leadership experience through secondments and promotions. Today, she leads as Pharmacy Manager – a role she has held for just over a year.
“Pharmaxo enable many opportunities to grow and develop if that is what you desire. They have always enabled me to get exposure into the areas I am interested in.”
Alongside hands-on experience, Jayde completed her NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification, funded by Pharmaxo, and is now a registered healthcare professional with the GPhC. She has also benefited from mentoring, internal leadership training, and is exploring a future degree apprenticeship.
“I thrive on improving processes and knowledge – both personally and for the department.”
Learning, leadership – and life beyond work
Daniella’s journey highlights how professional development can continue alongside family life.
After beginning her career in community pharmacy and qualifying as a Pharmacy Technician, Daniella joined Pharmaxo Healthcare and was offered the opportunity to train as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician. Shortly after, she became pregnant with her third child.
“Despite the difficulties of learning a new role while navigating pregnancy and maternity leave, I was fortunate to be part of a workplace with an exceptional training culture.”
With protected learning time, understanding managers, and encouragement from colleagues, Daniella continued her training – without pressure or guilt when maternity leave delayed completion.
“I was never made to feel guilty and continued to receive encouragement throughout.”
Now fully qualified, Daniella is focused on medication safety and expanding her clinical knowledge, with a growing interest in specialist areas such as oncology and multiple sclerosis.
“As a registered professional, I am now focused on ensuring the accuracy and safety of patients’ medication, while continuing to develop my clinical knowledge.”
Pharmaxo’s Head of People, Hanna Mansell, says this kind of support is core to how Pharmaxo approaches development…
“We’re proud to grow our own talent and support people through every stage of their career – and their life. Jayde and Daniella’s journeys show what’s possible when learning, trust and flexibility come together. When our people feel supported to develop and be themselves, it directly strengthens the care we’re able to provide to patients.”
Investing in people, protecting quality care
Jayde and Daniella’s stories reflect a shared truth at Pharmaxo: when people are supported to grow, patients benefit too.
By investing in training, flexibility, and internal progression, Pharmaxo continues to strengthen the expertise, confidence, and quality of care delivered every day – proving that career development and compassionate culture go hand in hand.
