Carbon reduction plan

Committed to care that’s better for patients and the planet

Reducing our environmental impact is an essential part of how we deliver high-quality care. At Pharmaxo, we recognise the important link between environmental sustainability and patient outcomes, and we’re committed to playing our part in building a lower-carbon healthcare system.

Our approach focuses on improving efficiency, reducing waste and emissions, and embedding sustainable practices across our operations, supply chain and service delivery. By aligning environmental responsibility with operational excellence, we aim to deliver meaningful, long-term impact.

Our commitment

We're committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2045, supporting the NHS's ambition for a net zero health service while aiming to reach this milestone five years ahead of the UK Government's 2050 target.

Sustainability has long been part of how we think and how we work. It reflects our responsibility to patients, healthcare providers, partners and the communities we serve. By reducing our environmental impact and using resources more responsibly, we're helping build a more resilient and sustainable healthcare system for the future.

As part of Icon Group's wider sustainability commitment, we continue to invest in initiatives that reduce our environmental impact, strengthen our operations and support a more sustainable future for healthcare.

Taking action

We've established a baseline carbon footprint to better understand our environmental impact and measure progress towards our net zero commitment.

Our carbon reduction plan addresses emissions across our facilities, energy use and wider supply chain, supported by a structured programme of improvements and defined milestones. This includes progressive emissions reductions underpinned by targeted investment in infrastructure, technology and innovation.

Initiatives already underway include improving energy efficiency across our sites, adopting new technologies, transitioning to electric vehicles, supporting more sustainable travel and enhancing operational practices. Our focus is on delivering practical, measurable change that supports long-term sustainability.

Looking ahead

Achieving net zero will require continued collaboration, innovation and commitment. We’re working closely with our partners and suppliers to reduce emissions across the value chain, while strengthening our approach to energy monitoring and exploring renewable energy opportunities.

As we continue to grow, sustainability will remain central to the decisions we make and the way we deliver our services. By reducing our environmental impact and using resources responsibly, we're helping build a more resilient future for healthcare.
